Board the SeaLink ferry for the 45-minute journey across Backstairs Passage to Kangaroo Island.

First stop is Rob's Shearing & Sheepdogs to enjoy a sheep shearing demonstration by a real Aussie character before heading to Pennington Bay, a spectacular beach and a great photo opportunity.

Continue to Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Distillery, the only commercial eucalyptus distillery in South Australia and visit stunning Seal Bay where you will have the opportunity to get up close to a wild breeding colony of rare Australian sea lions. At Little Sahara explore the huge white sand dunes and test your skills at sand boarding.

Arrive at Penneshaw, where is a pretty coastal village with spectacular views of the South Australian Mainland. Dinner at Sorrento's Pizzeria included. Free time to enjoy some of these suggested activities:

After breakfast get up close to more wildlife at Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park. With flames on their doorstep and an entire town evacuated, Sam Mitchell and some close family friends stayed and protected over 700 animals in their care. With over 150,000 hectares lost due to the fires, a large number of Koalas are being cared for here as they recover. The Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park will also provide you with the opportunity to walk amongst kangaroos and wallabies and you can hand feed them.

Watch an awe-inspiring In-Flight Display of Australian Birds of Prey, Wedge Tailed Eagles, Kookaburras, Osprey, Sea Eagles, Australian Kestrels, Australian Hobby Falcons and different varieties of owls. Join Dave and Leeza Irwin and their wonderful presenters for an amazing interactive experience while the birds demonstrate their natural skills, adaptions and hunting techniques.

Then, we will go to Emu Bay Lavender Farm. This beautifully presented farm showcases a range of lavender varieties in terraced rows. Walk around the garden and visit the charming gift shop which sells lavender essential oils, scented andles and other Kangaroo Island products. Afterwards enjoy a freshly prepared lunch.

On arrival into Pennington Bay, enjoy the panoramic view at Pennington Bay, a popular surfing and fishing beach. 512 steps take you to the top of the highest point on Kangaroo Island, Prospect Hill. With its rewarding views you can see Mount Lofty in the Adelaide Hills on a clear day, or to the south you will see the stretch of the south coast and Pennington Bay.
